Relating
to parts per million… Concentrations of "heavy metals" in some fertilizers, animal manures, and biosolids such as sewage sludge are typically indicated in parts per million (ppm), or sometimes in parts per billion (ppb). Concentrations are monitored to assure the levels are within set standards. To help put these units in perspective, here are a few examples for comparison. |
