2001 Soil Test Levels in North America
With the cooperation of numerous public and private soil testing laboratories, PPI periodically summarizes soil test levels for phosphorus (P), potassium (K), and pH in North America. The recently completed summary for 2001, eighth in a series dating back to the late 1960s, shows that approximately 45 percent of soil samples are currently testing medium or lower in P and K. The two maps below show the percent of soils testing medium or lower in P and K in individual states and provinces of the U.S. and Canada.
