Dr. José Espinosa
Director, Northern Latin America

    Dr. José Espinosa, born in Quito, Ecuador, is the Director of the IPNI Northern Latin America Program, headquartered in Quito. The region covers Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Panamá, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Cuba. Dr. Espinosa received his M.Sc. Degree from Michigan State University in 1979 and completed his Ph.D. at the University of Kentucky in 1986. He joined the Institute in 1989 as Director of the newly created Northern Latin America Program.
The International Plant Nutrition Institute (IPNI) is a not-for-profit, scientific organization dedicated to responsible management of plant nutrition – including N, P, K, S, and other nutrients – for the benefit of the human family. IPNI, which officially began operating January 1, 2007, is funded by fertilizer industry member companies and affiliates from around the world. With headquarters in Norcross, Georgia, U.S.A., IPNI has established effective programs led by scientific staff in many important global regions. The purpose is to help provide a coordinated scientific foundation for fertilizer nutrient use and to scientifically address associated environmental issues.
