China Boosting Initiatives for Ag Production and Soil Fertility

Dr. Jin reports on the government-supported "Grain Crop Bumper Harvest Program" and "Soil Fertility Improvement Program" which are to be initiated soon. "The bumper harvest program is part of a set of government initiatives supporting agriculture production and rural economic development," states Dr. Jin. "The central government is going to support a national level project to increase crop production of rice, corn, and wheat in 12 provinces with use of advanced technology." The other government-supported national project on soil fertility improvement is also slated to start soon...its goals are to improve soil productivity and fertilizer use efficiency. "These programs are welcomed and will certainly help farmers improve their overall land management and extend scientific use of fertilizer resources," Dr. Jin explains.
