Dr. Ji-Yun Jin

Background
Dr. Ji-yun Jin, a native of Henan Province, China, joined the staff of PPI/PPIC in 1990, as a Deputy Director responsible for Northern China regions, heading the Beijing office. In October of 2001, Dr. Jin was appointed as the Director of China Program, PPI/PPIC. Dr. Jin earned his B.S. degree in agronomy from Jilin Agricultural University in 1977, M.S. degree in plant nutrition from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) in 1982, and his Ph.D. in soil science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VPI&SU), USA in 1985. Before joining the Institute, Dr. Jin worked in the Soil and Fertilizer Institute of CAAS. He is a member of the standing council in both the Soil Science Society of China and Chinese Society of Plant Nutrition and Fertilizer Sciences.

Career Highlights
Dr. Jin’s work on soil K and K fertilization in northern China, on soil fertility evaluation and balanced fertilization, and on other topics caught people’s attention, including leaders at various government agencies, scientists in soil and fertilizer fields, technicians, and others. In 1995, Dr. Jin was selected by the MOA for the Great Contribution Award for Young-Mid Aged Scientists. In 1997, he received the National Award for Great Contribution for Students Returned from Abroad from the National Education Commission of China.
