2012 Great Plains Soil Fertility Conference
Graduate Student Travel Award

Graduate Student Travel Awards supported by industry will be available to one graduate student from each Great Plains university participating in the Conference. The amount of the awards will depend on the level of support received. If you know of a graduate student interested in attending, please submit his/her name to the appropriate university department for final selection and nomination. Procedures for applying are on page 2 of this letter.
Students presenting posters at the conference will be eligible for the Student Poster Award. Posters are judged on content and presentation by individuals selected from the planning committee.
Purpose: To encourage graduate student participation in the Great Plains Soil Fertility Conference. The Travel Award includes complimentary registration at the Conference and a monetary award. These Travel Awards are supported by industry. The amount of the award will be no less than $200.
Selection: Each University should select an individual and submit the final nomination to Mike Stewart by December 20, 2011. The individual nominated should be focusing his/her graduate program in the area of soil fertility, plant nutrition, soil chemistry, or crop production. It is mandatory that the student 1) present a poster or give an oral presentation, 2) provide a paper for the proceedings, and 3) attend the entire Conference to receive the Travel Award.
Procedure: The nomination should be accompanied by a short paragraph providing some information on the student, their graduate program, academic achievements, and the individual with whom the student is working.
Checks and recognition: Will be presented at the conference awards luncheon on Tuesday.
