Thirteen groups of local agronomists have been encouraged to develop crop management plans that are used as the basis of a "competition" to produce the highest grain yield and return. These plans are implemented in a field at Longerenong Agricultural College in small plots (2 m * 20 m) with four replications. The management plan includes variety selection, sowing time, crop protection strategies and a crop nutrient plan as well as grain marketing plans.
