Effects of different period of time between desiccation and sowing of soybeans
Responsibles: Victor Bertanha, Flávio Barbosa and Maurício Okubo
Objective:
Evaluation of glyphosate effects in soybean, applied at different periods of time between the desiccation and the sowing.
Material and Methods:
The experiment was conduced in a greenhouse, using 6 liter pots. First, Brachiaria brizanta cv. Mulato grass was sowed, to be used as cover plant. In order to make uniform the grass size of the at the time of desiccation, the sowing day of the grass was made accordingly with to the treatments. The treatments were based in different periods of time between the desiccation and the sowing: 1, 7, 14 and 21 days before sowing, and 1 day after sowing. A 30 ml solution with 2.5% of glyphosate was applied in the grass of all treatments. The soybean sowing date was the same in all treatments.
Result:
It was possible to observe that the shorter the period between the desiccation and the sowing time, worse was the development of the soybeans plants.
Conclusion:
The best period to wait between the desiccation and the sowing day, in no-till system, is around 14 and 21 days after the desiccation with glyphosate.

Note: similar result was obtained by Jamil Constantin, researcher at Maringa State University who observed yield increase of up to 600 kg/ha of soybean and over a 1,000 kg/ha of corn with this simple information of crucial importance for farmers.
