Oil Palm Database Development and Implementation (OMP v8.02), 2003

The Oil Palm Monitoring Program (OMP v8.02) is now released and version 9.0 is presently under construction. The OMP software system provides comprehensive record-keeping and trend analysis functions for agronomic and environmental parameters important to plantation managers. OMP can be linked to any geographic information system (GIS) and provides a powerful way to visualize agronomic and management data both spatially and temporally. The use of reports, charts, and maps assists the implementation of best practices by demonstrating ‘cause and effect’ visually. The latest versions of OMP are more flexible and powerful and can be linked to many other management and decision support systems. OMP was the first analysis and interpretative agronomic software tool that facilitated closer collaboration between agronomists, researchers, and managers...this represented a change from traditional management and the change continues to evolve.
