Project Details:
Methodology Objectives
A split-split-plot field study with four replications will be conducted at two locations (The UI Dixon Spring Ag. Center and the UI Brownstown Agronomy Research Center) in southern Illinois. Whole plots will consist of four soybean varieties (2 Roundup-ready and 2 conventional). The first split will consist of a combination of +/- fungicides, with and without Mn. The second split will consist of K vs Cl treatments (check, KCl and CaCl2).
Measurements will include soil samples for pH, P, K, Mn and Cl with Mn and Cl determined to a depth of 2 feet in 6" increments. Tissue samples for K, Cl, and Mn will be taken at early pod set. Evaluation of soybean Asian rust (and other diseases if applicable) incidence and severity will be monitored throughout the growing season.
