In a new project initiated in 1996 in western Washington, maximum yields of corn and beans as related to P nutrition in conventional and two conservation tillage systems are being studied. Silage yields of corn were not affected this first year by any of the treatments, however, P application did increase dry matter content of the silage. This rotation study will require a few years to establish sufficient differences between tillage systems and P distribution in the soil before the important relationships will become clear.
