Interpretive Summaries:
Increasing crop yields with potash, 1995
Fertilizer requirements for optimal wheat production in Tianjin province are 225-150-150 kg/ha N-P2O5-K2O according to studies designed to determine K application rates for increasing fertility levels. With optimal P and N rates, yields increased by 8 percent, 24 percent and 15 percent for K applications of 75, 150 and 225 kg K2O/ha, respectively. Comparisons of basal vs. topdress applications indicate greater benefit when potash is applied as a topdressing. In long-term studies of soil K dynamics, the evidence to date suggests that potash with or without straw return does not influence the amount of total or slow release soil K but does increase the amount of plant available K.
Also, the studies showed that maximum rice yields of 8 t/ha can be produced by using the optimal K rate of 150 kg K2O/ha. TIANJIN-02
