Project Details:

1) Measure the influence on corn yields of N fertilizer applications immediately prior to tasselling under rain-fed conditions for a soil with low water-holding capacity and a soil with high water-holding capacity. 2) Analyze the profitability of N fertilizer applications immediately prior to tasselling for soils with low and high water-holding capacity. 3) Develop a system to utilize soil water-holding capacity, rainfall, corn growth stage, and temperatures to predict the need for N fertilizer applications prior to tasselling.
