Nutrient Management and Balanced Fertilization in Qinghai, 2006
In 2006, work mainly focused on evaluating nutrient management through balanced fertilization of potato, rapeseed, horsebean, and vegetables in Huzhu and Ledu counties. In Huzhu, 125-75-135 kg N-P2O5-K2O/ha increased rapeseed yield by 37% compared with the zero fertilizer check and increased farm income by US$292/ha. In greenhouse vegetables, 257-385 kg N-P2O5/ha along with 90, 180, 270, and 360 kg K2O/ha increased cucumber yield by 2% to 38%. The highest yield of 121 t/ha was obtained with 360 kg K2O/ha. Compared with farmers’ practice, balanced fertilization increased the yield (profit) of rapeseed by 7% (US$132/ha), horsebean by 9% (US$70/ha), tomato by 8% (US$180/ha), turnip by 15 (US$1,116/ha), and green onion by 18% (US$2,062/ha).
