Forage Oat Response to P and K Fertilizer Application in Qinghai, 2005
Oats (Avena sativa L.) are one of the most important sources for animal forage in Qinghai. The crop's ability to maintain good quality under long-term storage is important to the region as it secures adequate animal feed stocks in case of extended periods of poor production or natural disaster. At present, the province has about 40,000 ha of oats.
Experiments were performed to evaluate the response of oats (Qingyin No.1) to different rates of phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) fertilizer. The highest fresh forage yield (69.9 t/ha) was obtained with 60 kg P2O5/ha, along with 55 kg nitrogen(N)/ha and 36 kg K2O/ha. Compared to - P and - K treatments, net income due to P and K application was improved by US$436/ha and US$334/ha, respectively. Qinghai-NMS01 G
