Evaluation of enhanced efficiency fertilizers for wheat and corn
The objective of this research is to evaluate the performance of N and P enhanced efficiency fertilizers in wheat and corn production at two locations of the Argentinean Pampas. Field experiments would be established for wheat and corn in 2009/10 and will be repeated in the 2010/11 and 2011/12 growing seasons.
1. Wheat
Three field experiments were established to evaluate NSN. Experiments are located at two sites (Figure 1):
Treatments:
T1: Check
T2: N 100 as urea
T3: N125 as urea
T4: N150 as urea
T5: N100 as urea + NSN
T6: N125 as urea + NSN
T7: N150 as urea + NSN
Treatments are set in a randomized complete block design with 4 replications.
Measurements will include:
· Soil analysis at planting: pH, Bray 1 P, OM, and nitrate-N (0-60 cm)
· Canopy reflectance
· Chlorophyll with SPAD meter
· Dry matter accumulation
· Total N uptake
· Grain yield and grain N.
2. Corn
Two field experiments were established to evaluate NSN and Avail. Experiments are located at two sites (Figure 1):
Treatments:
Urea and Urea/NSN are broadcasted at planting. TSP and TSP/Avail are banded to the side and below the seed at planting.
Treatments are set in a randomized complete block design with 3 replications.
Measurements will include:
