Conservation tillage production systems are being used by an increasing number of producers in the Great Plains because of several inherent advantages. These advantages include reduction of soil erosion losses, increased soil water-use efficiency, and improved soil quality. The large amount of residue left on the soil surface in no-tillage systems can make N management difficult.
