By introducing OMP in selected quality plantation companies in the region, the project will help each estate to provide more accurate and appropriate fertilizer recommendations based on an analysis of historical trends in production, and leaf and soil analysis.
Data from the OMP installations will provide important information on site specific yield potentials and yield gaps, nutrient balance sheets at various time and spatial scales, critical nutrient leaf levels. The Institute will also have access to agronomic data from 100,000 ha commercially managed oil palm in all the representative soil types, climates and countries in the region.
