Considerable confusion exists regarding the origin and suitability of the current NPK fertilizer recommendations for many of the newer, higher yielding varieties of vegetable crops, such as cabbage, grown in Ontario. In a study of combinations of fertilizer N, P and K, very few interactions were observed between nutrients in their effects on cabbage yield, nutrient uptake, or nitrate concentrations in the cabbage heads.
